YOUTH EDUCATION INITIATIVE

IGFA's 80th Anniversary

Established in 1939, the International Game Fish Association (IGFA) is a nonprofit organization committed to the conservation of game fish and the promotion of responsible, ethical angling practices through science, education, rule making, record keeping and recognition of outstanding accomplishments in the field of angling. While the organization is rooted in record keeping, rule making and game fish conservation, in recent years the IGFA has put new emphasis on educating anglers, especially youth, on the principles of ethical angling and environmental stewardship. The IGFA reached its 80th anniversary on June 7, 2019 and announced a key initiative to teach 100,000 youth around the world to fish to help establish the next generation of educated, ethical, and accomplished anglers. However, anyone can learn to fish!
